London's Black Time described their approach as "the heavy vampire sound," delivering thunderous and wildly abrasive punk laced with elements of rockabilly and soul. Bo Diddley, Link Wray, King Tubby, and Prince shaped the group as much as Suicide, the Birthday Party, and Electric Eels. The lineup consisted of guitarist/vocalist Lemmy Caution, bassist/vocalist Janie Too Bad, and drummer Mr. Stix. Caution also performed in the rawer Subway Slims and teamed with Too Bad in the duo Sexaphone, while Mr. Stix handled drums in Blood Safari. The trio put out its first album, Blackout, in 2004 as a limited-edition vinyl pressing that sold out rapidly before In the Red reissued it. Black Time followed in 2006 with Midnight World, an even brasher and rawer collection of tracks. For 2008's Double Negative, the band undertook its first U.S. tour. In 2009 Black Time issued a split LP with Ty Segall on the Canadian label Telephone Explosion Records. The 12" EP More Songs About Motorcycles & Death came out on the British label Wrench Records in 2010. As members turned greater attention to family life and other projects, the group grew less active yet continued to play occasional Black Time shows, and its fourth album, Aerial Gobs of Love (recorded in 2009), finally appeared in 2015 on the Swedish label Förbjudna Ljud.
