Biography
Members of Ukraine's widely acclaimed Drudkh had already tested limits by fusing native folk traditions and pagan philosophies into black metal, yet Roman Saenko (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Thurios (guitar), Krechet (bass), and Yuriy Sinitsky (drums) still pursued further outlets. In 2005 they launched the side project Blood of Kingu to examine Sumerian, Egyptian, Tibetan, and Indo-Aryan mythologies. Its name references the Babylonian deity Kingu, slain by Marduk in a manner whose spilled blood gave rise to mankind. Those enduring narratives supplied the conceptual foundation for the band's 2007 debut De Occulta Philosophia and the 2010 successor Sun in the House of the Scorpion.
