Biography
Bluebottle Kiss, an Australian indie rock quartet, came together in the mid-'90s under the direction of the gifted 21-year-old singer/songwriter Jamie Hutchings, whose atmospheric power pop drew from the styles of Nick Cave, Coldplay, and Brendan Benson. Following an adequate but unexceptional first album plus a follow-up EP on a major-label subsidiary, the group issued its self-produced Patient in 1999. That album's accomplishments were equaled precisely by Revenge Is Slow in 2002 and Come Across in 2004, each enjoying strong reception abroad. Hutchings and longtime associate Ben Grounds added bass player Ross Dickie and drummer Jared Harrison to complete the lineup for the expansive two-disc set Doubt Seeds in 2006.
