Blush

Blush, an alternative rock group, first assembled in 2001 when the Cushman siblings—Matt on drums, Andrew on guitar, and Mary on vocals—began working together. The following year the northern Ohio trio, now joined by bassist Brian Risko, put out a five-track self-titled EP through Surfdog. Strong interest in the EP prompted two of its songs to surface on the MTV series Tough Enough and the ABC sitcom Eight Simple Rules, which in turn secured spots for the band on selected 2002 Warped Tour dates and headline performances along Tony Hawk’s Birdhouse Skateboard Tour. Jayson Benn became the group’s permanent bassist in 2003, while Gavin, the youngest Cushman brother, joined on second guitar as the band was writing its first full-length album. Sessions for that album wrapped in late 2005, after which Blush partnered with Cleveland’s Rust Records to issue From the Falls to the Path in March 2006.
