Pop singer and songwriter Dagny first drew widespread notice in Europe through her featured role on SeeB’s 2018 single “Drink About,” then added a songwriting credit to Katy Perry’s U.S. Top 20 hit “Never Really Over” in 2019. Broader recognition arrived once her own recordings gained traction, beginning with the bright, heartfelt debut album Strangers/Lovers. Released in 2020, the set earned double-platinum status in her native Norway. She continued to place regularly on the domestic singles chart, including the 2021 Astrid S collaboration “Pretty” and the 2022 release “Brightsider.”

Born Dagny Norvoll Sandvik in the northern Norwegian city of Tromsø, she grew up as the daughter of jazz guitarist and composer Øystein Norvoll and jazz singer Marit Sandvik. In her twenties she moved to London, England, where her first single, “Backbeat,” surfaced in September 2015. The track quickly amassed half a million streams in its opening week and several million more over the following months. Her five-song debut EP, Ultraviolet, followed in 2016 and featured both the title cut and the BØRNS duet “Fool’s Gold.” The single “Wearing Nothing” appeared in 2017, succeeded early the next year by the atmospheric “That Feeling When.” Also in 2018 she teamed with SeeB on “Drink About” and with the Wombats on “Turn.” “Drink About” climbed to number two on the Norwegian chart and reached the Swedish Top 25.

Her first 2019 partnership paired her with electronic producer Steve Aoki on the track “Hit Your Heart,” which entered Norway’s Top 40. Later that year she received another co-writing credit when Katy Perry wove Dagny’s “Love You Like That” into the single “Never Really Over.” Supported by the Top Three single “Somebody” and the Top 40 entry “Come Over,” Dagny’s first full-length project, Strangers/Lovers, debuted at number two in Norway upon its October 2020 release on her own Little Daggers imprint through Universal. A further Top Ten hit arrived in 2021 with the Astrid S collaboration “Pretty,” and she returned to the Norwegian chart in 2022 with the propulsive “Brightsider.”
