Marina, a multi-instrumentalist and classical-singing graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, first crossed paths with Roy Kamen at the Music House in N.Y.C., an encounter that grew into a lasting personal bond and shared enterprise. Together they established MRK Records by issuing the single “Ti Amo,” drawn from a familiar Italian original. Following the appearance of “Do You Wanna Dance” with rapper Kraze, the dance music diva surfaced via the EP The Dream Lover, which reinterpreted Jewel’s “Foolish Games.” In 1999 Marina cut a version of Eurythmics’ “Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves” ahead of unveiling her debut album, Um Lotty Da.
