In the summer of 1990 England-born children’s television presenter Timmy Mallett scored an improbable UK number 1 when Bombalurina delivered a ridiculous recording of ‘Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini’. Packed with superfluous vocal asides such as several ‘aah yeah’s, the single was succeeded by an equally uninspired cover of ‘Seven Little Girls Sitting In The Back Seat’ that climbed to number 18 in November 1990. That release paved the way for the debut album Huggin’ And A Kissin’, an execrable set of novelty numbers including ‘Hoots Mon’, ‘She Taught Me How To Yodel’ and ‘They’re Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!’. No further material appeared from Bombalurina, so Timmy Mallett simply resumed his presenting career.
