Boy Crisis, an electro-pop outfit hailing from Brooklyn, attracted a loyal hipster audience long before landing a recording deal or putting out a debut album. The band, shaped by the post-disco and post-punk textures of the early 1980s, formed in 2005 at Wesleyan Art College in Connecticut. Once established, the group shifted its operations to Brooklyn and features Wesleyan alumni Victor Vazquez on vocals, Lee Pender on guitar, Tal Rozen on bass, Alex Kestner on keyboards, and Owen Roberts on drums. During 2008, MP3s including "Dressed to Digress" and "Strawberries" circulated rapidly through the blogosphere, prompting the British outlet NME to list Boy Crisis among its "25 Bands Making America Cool Again" and earning them a Bands of the Day feature in The Guardian.
