Biography
Burning Star Core serves as the creative outlet for Cincinnati, OH-based composer and multi-instrumentalist C. Spencer Yeh, who draws ominous drones from the violin while also shaping delicate electronic textures. Yeh, who holds membership in both Death Beam and the Gordy Brothers, launched the project in 1993. Through his own Drone Disco imprint and additional outlets such as No Fun, Hanson, and Troubleman Unlimited, he issued recordings while engaging in collaborations and joint releases alongside Hototogisu, Comets on Fire, and Wolf Eyes' Aaron Dilloway. Among the project's key statements, the 2002 Thinwrist album A Brighter Summer Day earned recognition as one of Burning Star Core's essential works, a status shared by 2007's Blood Lightning and the subsequent release Challenger.
