Biography
Buzz Poets fuse sturdy rock and roll foundations into their material while anchoring everything to pop’s keenest hooks, thereby generating fresh mutations within the rock idiom. Emerging from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the mid-1990s, the lineup comprised Tripper on vocals and guitar, Phil MacDowell on guitar, bassist Tim Gaber, drummer Ron Lavella, and Justin Sarra, the keyboards and turntable wizard. Tenacity paired with the members’ individual skills proved decisive in cultivating a sizable audience. Their debut album Planet Buzz arrived in 1997 and supplied the needed resonance for their material, whereas the 1999 live release Alcohol Abuse Live magnified the group’s electrifying live shows. Pretzel Sex reached stores the same year and affirmed the Poets’ steady growth. In 2001 the self-titled third studio album Buzz Poets further solidified their place in the modern rock landscape.
