Caiiro

South African DJ and producer Caiiro crafts warm, uplifting house music that draws on a wide array of global influences. His interest in Egyptian history and pyramids prompted the choice of stage name. After issuing his 2016 debut album First Impressions, he began performing abroad and emerged as one of the most prominent names in Afro-house. The 2020 single “Your Voice” gained widespread club play, especially once Adam Port supplied a remix, while the 2022 album Pyramids featured another standout cut, “The Akan.” Over time his sound has shifted toward greater melodic and organic textures, a progression illustrated by the 2024 release Door of No Return.

Born Patrick Dumisani Mthimunye in the Western Cape township of Thembalethu, he first produced tech-house infused with tribal and deep-house elements. First Impressions marked his introduction in 2016. The Future Is Now EP followed in 2018, widening his international profile. Chicago house veteran Mike Dunn reworked the single “Drummotions” in 2020, the same year the original version of “Your Voice” appeared with vocalist AWEN. Also in 2020 he delivered the expansive thirty-track album Agora, which spotlighted fellow Afro-house acts including Black Motion and Da Capo. Pyramids, his third full-length, surfaced in 2022 and featured vocal contributions from Tina Ardor, Priscilla K, and frequent partner Pixie L. German producer Adam Port’s 2022 remix of “Your Voice” amassed far more streams than the initial recording. After several additional collaborative singles, Caiiro issued his fourth album, Door of No Return, in 2024.
