Biography
Eight leading Cajun instrumentalists and vocalists united to capture the genre’s exuberance on the landmark album Chez les Cajun. Although the project centered on longstanding traditions, it also featured two new compositions: fiddler/vocalist Michael Doucet’s “Newz Reel” and “Blue Cajun,” co-written by Doucet and accordionist Errol Verret. Fellow members of Doucet’s group Beausoleil proved vital, supplying key performances from accordionist Jimmy Breaux and acoustic guitarist David Doucet. The lineup was completed by additional Cajun players Sonny Landreth and Christine Balfa alongside non-Cajun contributors Dobro, steel guitar, and lap steel player Cyndi Cashdollar and acoustic guitarist/producer Artie Traum.
