Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer Charlotte Day Wilson crafts an atmospheric, textured fusion of R&B, folk, and electronic pop. Acclaim arrived in 2016 with the EP CDW, which spotlighted her SOCAN Prize-nominated song "Work." Her first full-length album, Alpha, followed in 2021 and incorporated collaborations with BadBadNotGood and Syd, the latter joining her on the Juno Award-nominated track "Take Care of You." She later aligned with XL Recordings, the home of her second album, the soulful and ruminative Cyan Blue, issued in 2024.

Born in Toronto, Wilson began piano lessons at an early age and absorbed Motown and bluegrass during childhood. She subsequently studied saxophone and guitar before joining the funk and R&B group the Wayo while pursuing women's studies and music in Halifax, Nova Scotia. That same period saw the release of her debut EP, Palimpsest, along with several tracks including "Avondale," "Stephen," and "Montreal." Seeking greater focus on songwriting, she left school, spent six months in Montreal, and then returned to Toronto to intern at the Arts & Crafts label while continuing to perform with the Wayo.

She taught herself music production and stepped out solo in 2016 with the EP CDW, which also carried production from Howie Beck and River Tiber. The set contained the single "Work," which earned a SOCAN Songwriting Prize nomination in 2017. CDW further earned a longlist placement for the 2017 Polaris Music Prize. In the wake of the EP, Wilson teamed with BadBadNotGood on their '70s-tinged single "In Your Eyes" and appeared on Daniel Caesar's 2017 single "Transform." She closed the year with her own track "Doubt," which opened the door to her third EP, Stone Woman, in 2018. Her debut long-player, Alpha, surfaced in 2021 and united her with multiple contributors, among them fellow Toronto artists Daniel Caesar, BadBadNotGood, Mustafa, and Merna Bishouty. The album featured the hit "Take Care of You" (with Syd), which received a Juno Award nomination for Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, while Wilson herself earned nominations for Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year.

After guest appearances on Lil Silva's "Leave It" and SG Lewis' "Fever Dreamer," she signed with XL Recordings and made her label debut in August 2023 with the downcast Snoh Aalegra collaboration "Forever." Two months later she rejoined BadBadNotGood for "Sleeper." Cyan Blue arrived the following May and included "Forever" among further collaborations with producers Jack Rochon and Leon Thomas. Throughout its creation Wilson favored spontaneity over perfection.
