Biography
Chaundon entered the world in the Bronx and took up rhyme writing at the age of 13, later linking with every member of Little Brother in 1999 once he transferred from Barber Scotia College in Concord, NC to North Carolina Central University in Durham. As the hardcore lyricist whose efforts helped solidify the Justus League—the larger North Carolina collective surrounding Little Brother—as a respected source of hip-hop in the state, he was the one who discovered producer Khrysis, the talent whose work with 9th Wonder would prove decisive in shaping the group’s sonic identity. Tireless in his own advancement, he blanketed the campus with appearances at shows, neighborhood clubs, and radio outlets, a persistence that carried directly into the studio and yielded multiple mixtapes, the earliest of which was Slow Leaks in 2003. While biding time for a full-length project of his own, the Durham-via-Bronx rapper lent guest verses to fellow League releases, among them Little Brother’s controversial The Minstrel Show (2005) and L.E.G.A.C.Y.’s Project Mayhem (2005). Ultimately Hall of Justus Music Group, his home label, landed a distribution arrangement with Defend, allowing the MC to issue his first proper LP, Carnage, in 2008.
