Biography
Dallas-based alt-pop quintet Chomsky features Matt Kellum on drums, Sean Halleck handling guitar and vocals, Glen Reynolds also on guitar and vocals, Don Cento at the keyboards, and James Driscoll on bass, with most of the lineup first crossing paths while attending college. Their sound echoes the late-'90s pop-punk chart-toppers Blink 182, Green Day, and Weezer, while incorporating a touch of emo acts such as Sunny Day Real Estate, and they delivered two albums in quick succession: A Few Possible Selections for the Soundtrack of Your Life in 1999 followed by Onward Quirky Soldiers in 2001. Regional recognition arrived swiftly, bringing Album of the Year and Best Rock/Pop Act honors from the Dallas Observer, plus Best New Act and Best Rock Band nods from FW Weekly, along with a listener-voted slot at the 2001 KDGE Edgefest.
