Biography
Emerging onto Vancouver’s jazz circuit toward the end of the 1990s, Chris Gestrin arrived straight from Berklee College of Music in Boston, intent on deploying his skills at the piano. He soon integrated himself into numerous local ensembles spanning nearly every jazz idiom and ultimately contributed to recordings by many of those same groups. Although his first discs appeared in Canada in 1996, nearly six years elapsed before he secured releases outside the country. Accompanied by several prominent area musicians, Gestrin laid down Stillpoint during the spring for an international rollout later that summer.
