Biography
Although born and raised in South Africa, Chris Letcher found his breakthrough as a singer and songwriter only after relocating to London, a development sealed by the release of his 2007 album Frieze. That record earned widespread critical acclaim and secured him an appearance at South by Southwest in Austin, TX, along with further live dates across Europe, South Africa, the U.K., and the United States. Earlier recognition had arrived in South Africa through his work with the band Urban Creep; once he embarked on a solo path, Letcher collaborated with an array of fellow musicians, including Dave Matthews, and extended his reach into cinema by scoring the Claire Angelique film My Black Little Heart. Frieze marked the artist’s fifth full-length release.
