Founded in Stockholm during 2003, the Swedish country trio Cookies 'N' Beans consists of Frida Öhrn, Linda Ström, and Charlotte Centervall. Öhrn, born February 24, 1979, in Solna, Sweden, also performs with the indie pop outfit Oh Laura, while the group draws from the styles of Dolly Parton, Lucinda Williams, and Emmylou Harris. Their first full-length release, Tales from a Trailer Trash Soul, arrived in 2007. A couple of years afterward they reached the Swedish mainstream via the Top 30 ballad “What If,” which they entered in the 2009 Melodifestivalen as a bid for Eurovision representation. Following that exposure the trio secured a deal with Capitol and teamed with producers Kristofer Åström and Magnus Tingsek to record the follow-up album Beg, Borrow and Steal. Songwriting input came from Lisa Miskovsky, Sophie Zelmani, Tobias Fröberg, and Peter Morén of Peter Bjorn and John. Released in 2010, Beg, Borrow and Steal became the group’s first Top Ten album on the Swedish chart and yielded the single “First We Take Manhattan.”
