Journalists sometimes drew comparisons between the trio Dada and the Police, citing the former's pristine pop aesthetic, infectious hooks, and witty songwriting as reminiscent of the latter during the 1990s, yet the group fell short of matching that band's exploratory musical approach. Their initial release, Puzzle from 1992, offered a contemporary take on the refined guitar-driven pop style established by the Police at the start of the previous decade. Propelled by the track "Dizz Knee Land," the band garnered considerable media attention and achieved solid sales figures. However, the follow-up effort American Highway Flower, issued in 1994, failed to build upon the initial success, quickly fading from the charts. El Subliminoso in 1996 experienced a comparable outcome, with the band's fourth, self-titled album arriving in 1998.
