Born on March 21, 1973, in Beverly Hills, California, Damon Elliott—also performing under the name Buck 22—works as a writer, composer, recording engineer, producer, label owner, and occasional rapper. He is the child of pop singer icon Dionne Warwick and jazz drummer and actor Bill Elliott. Spending his childhood immersed in recording studios, Elliott transitioned directly into the music industry, launching his production work in 1996 alongside Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Comfortable across pop, hip-hop, R&B, rock, country, and gospel, he later collaborated with artists including Britney Spears, Macy Gray, Mya, Deana Carter, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Gwen Stefani, Beyoncé, and Destiny's Child. After establishing Confidential Records, he discovered, signed, and guided the early careers of R&B artist Keyshia Cole and hip-hop's Hopsin. His version of “Lady Marmalade” for the 2001 film Moulin Rouge earned a Grammy Award the same year. Elliott also contributed to television by writing and producing theme songs for Holly's World, Kendra on Top, and The Lylas. He launched The Damon Elliott Music Group and secured distribution for the new venture. Under the Buck 22 moniker, he released the country hip-hop remake “Achy Breaky Heart 2,” a sequel to Billy Ray Cyrus’ 1992 line dance hit; the accompanying video included a walk-on appearance by Larry King and referenced Cyrus’ daughter Miley Cyrus, generating widespread media coverage that was not uniformly favorable.
