Born in Canada, singer-songwriter Celia crafts a vibrant fusion of roots rock, power pop, and Americana. Established voices in his homeland have embraced his output, granting him opening slots for Gordon Lightfoot along with an invitation to join Canadian folk veterans Ian and Sylvia Tyson on guitar, while across the Atlantic his admirers have included The Divine Comedy frontman Neil Hannon and BBC’s Bob Harris. Celia introduced his smart-yet-approachable, melody-rich pop-rock approach on the 2002 album Organica, an effort whose arch humor and memorable hooks were captured entirely on a home computer. Five years later he delivered This Isn’t Here, a set of carefully shaped songs distinguished by incisive lyrics and assured pop songwriting. As on the debut, recording took place at home on computer, yet the expansive, forceful sonics concealed the modest, self-made origins. After two well-received releases Celia stayed largely unnoticed in the USA, yet he kept touring, drawing on the recognition and listeners accumulated in Canada and abroad.
