Biography
Born in 1978, Toronto native Justin Rutledge built a reputation as an alt-country singer and songwriter whose literate, rootsy sound drew widespread critical notice. Under the Six Shooter Records banner he unveiled his first album, No Never Alone, in 2005, earning enthusiastic notices from UK reviewers. Previously editor-in-chief of a literary journal, Rutledge saw his profile climb across Canada, where Toronto’s Now Magazine later named him singer/songwriter of the year. The 2006 follow-up The Devil On A Bench In Stanley Park sustained that momentum, again attracting strong reviews and, two years later, a Juno Awards nomination for his recorded work.
