Biography
David Shire ranks among America's most productive composers, with an extensive body of work created for theater, motion pictures, and broadcast television. Although occasional film assignments still occupy his time, his greatest volume of output occurred across the 1970s and the opening years of the 1980s. Recognition arrived in 1979 when he received an Oscar for the song "It Goes Like It Goes," written for the motion picture Norma Rae.
