Based out of Austin, Texas, David Wingo pursues dual paths as a film composer and rock performer. Recognition has centered on his scores for several David Gordon Green features, in addition to Jeff Nichols’ Take Shelter, the 2011 Cannes prize winner. Partnership with Green, a friend since childhood, originated in the late 90s through music supplied for the director’s early student works. Momentum for Wingo’s composing career arrived with the soundtrack to Green’s well-received first feature, the 2000 release George Washington. Throughout the subsequent ten years he continued with further Green projects, among them All the Real Girls in 2003 and The Sitter in 2011. Renewed collaboration with Nichols followed, beginning with the 2012 picture Mud and extending to the sci-fi release Midnight Special in 2016. Beyond cinema work, Wingo leads the Austin rock outfit Ola Podrida, which has issued three albums from 2007 onward.
