Dawin Polanco, who performs under the streamlined name Dawin, works as a producer, songwriter, and vocalist blending EDM, R&B, and pop. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, he picked up instruments early in childhood and began treating music as a serious pursuit during his teenage years. In January 2014 he paired a segment of his playful song "Just Girly Things" with footage of Alfonso Ribeiro executing "the Carlton dance" and posted the combination on Vine, a savvy social-media maneuver that quickly drew attention. Months later he secured a deal with the Republic-linked Casablanca imprint and issued an official commercial edition of "Just Girly Things," which climbed to number 28 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Following his remix of Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea’s “Problem,” the track “Dessert” appeared in March 2015, reached number 39 on the Dance/Electronic tally, and crossed over to the Hot 100 at number 68. Several more singles paved the way for his independently released 2017 album Errors, while the standalone single “Flexible” surfaced in 2019.
