Although Redfoo achieved his greatest visibility as one half of LMFAO, his recording path began well before he teamed with nephew Sky Blu for their signature party anthems. Born in Los Angeles as Stefan Kendal Gordy, the youngest son of Motown founder Berry Gordy, Jr., he first entered the industry in the late ’90s by collaborating with local rappers, among them the Black Eyed Peas. His appearance on the track “Duet” from the group’s debut album would later prove pivotal. After forming LMFAO, Redfoo and Sky Blu met Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine in 2006 through will.i.am and secured an immediate contract. Their first album, Party Rock, arrived in 2009; the following year they joined David Guetta’s remix of “Gettin’ Over You” alongside fellow Black Eyed Pea Fergie. Riding that momentum, the duo issued their second album, Sorry for Party Rocking, which yielded multiple hit singles and prominent touring opportunities, including a Super Bowl performance with Madonna. The pair declared an indefinite hiatus in 2012, prompting Redfoo to issue his debut solo single, “Bring Out the Bottles.” He subsequently served as a judge on the Australian edition of The X Factor and continued releasing singles, among them the Australian-charting “Let’s Get Ridiculous.” High-energy big-beat electro-pop tracks kept appearing through 2015, when he revealed plans for his first full-length solo project, Party Rock Mansion. Issued in early 2016, the album featured lead single “Lights Out,” a Stevie Wonder guest spot on “Where the Sun Goes,” and the song “Juicy Wiggle,” which appeared on the soundtrack to the Alvin & the Chipmunks film Road Chip.
