Hailing from Los Angeles, California, the electro-rap duo LMFAO entered the major-label arena in 2008. The pair consists of producers, DJs, and clothing designers Redfoo and Sky Blu—the son and grandson, respectively, of Motown impresario Berry Gordy—who spent years grinding on the club circuit before launching their major-label career that year with the single "I'm in Miami Bitch," a track sparked by their initial outing at the Winter Music Conference. Following the Interscope release, which registered on charts across multiple countries, LMFAO continued working the domestic club circuit while readying their first full-length effort, Party Rock, which arrived in July 2009. "La La La" and "Shots," the latter featuring Lil Jon, also appeared on the charts, while additional LMFAO material surfaced on Jersey Shore and Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami. The duo contributed to a global Top Ten success in 2010 as featured artists on David Guetta's "Gettin' Over You." Their subsequent LMFAO single, the anthemic "Party Rock Anthem," reached the summit in more than ten nations throughout 2011, among them the United States. The next full-length, Sorry for Party Rocking, followed in June 2011.
