Originating from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Dead Ghosts craft a soulful yet minimalist blend of garage rock, first-generation rockabilly, punk, and lo-fi noise. Their approach yields a deliberately raw, swampy texture laced with psychedelic currents. The self-titled debut album from 2010 established their presence, yet they reached fuller artistic expression on the reverb-drenched 2015 release Love and Death and All the Rest, later incorporating keyboards for the 2020 effort Automatic Changer.

Longtime friends guitarist Drew Wilkinson and singer/guitarist Bryan Nicol launched the band in 2007, having first collaborated as children on the same T-ball team. They later committed more seriously to rock & roll by enlisting Drew’s brother Mike Wilkinson on drums and locating bassist Maurizio “Moe” Chiumento via an online advertisement. After building a local reputation through performances, the group issued its initial single, “What to Do” b/w “God Only Knows,” on Milk n’ Herpes Records in 2008. This helped them gain traction in Toronto, prompting regional tours alongside further singles on assorted independent labels.

Florida’s Dying Records issued the band’s first full-length effort, the self-titled album, in 2010; Psychic Lunch Records simultaneously presented the live collection Live Tapes that same year. Additional touring preceded the 2013 follow-up Can’t Get No, which Burger Records distributed in the United States. Although the band hinted that Can’t Get No might conclude their discography, they regrouped for the 2015 album Love and Death and All the Rest. Dead Ghosts resurfaced in 2020 with Automatic Changer, expanding to a quintet through the inclusion of Craig Pettman on keyboards.
