Derby

Formed in Portland, OR, during the early 2000s, Derby brought together Nat Johnson, Dave Gulick, and Isaac Frost. Their debut full-length, This Is the New You, appeared on Roslyn Records in 2005 and highlighted the group’s bright-eyed, innocent indie pop approach, one that echoed the style of Nada Surf and Sloan. Throughout the next year the band maintained a steady touring schedule, supporting an array of established indie and alt-rock artists that included Robyn Hitchcock, the Decemberists, Imperial Teen, and Badly Drawn Boy. Early in 2007 the members reconvened in the studio, resulting in the release of their second album, Posters Fade, on Green Submarine during the early summer of 2008.
