Imohiosen Patrick, who records as DJ Neptune, built a thriving career as a Nigerian producer and DJ after first gaining notice as an award-winning radio personality. Blending hip-hop, R&B, house, dancehall, and Afrobeat, he issued multiple crowd-pleasing mixtapes and singles before unveiling his debut studio album, Greatness, in 2018.

Born in Lagos State, Neptune discovered music while still a child and regularly performed for friends, family, and neighbors. During his high-school years he began working as a DJ at school parties, clubs, and fast-food restaurants. He turned professional in 2001 upon joining 100.5 FM Lagos, where he remained for the following decade.

In 2008 popular Nigerian rapper Naeto C engaged Neptune as his personal DJ and hype man, prompting the pair to release promotional mixtapes. Taking cues from regional turntablists who transitioned into recording artists—M.I Abaga, the late Dagrin, and Naeto C among them—Neptune started issuing his own remixes and singles that featured leading figures from the Nigerian hip-hop and DJ scenes, all while collecting multiple honors at the NEAs.

Greatness, his first full-length project, appeared in 2018 and featured an array of high-profile guests including Jesse Jagz, M.I Abaga, Burna Boy, DaVido, Olamide, Maleek Berry, and Skales. The following year he issued the remix EP Love and Greatness, then in 2020 delivered the singles “Yoyo (feat. Shaggi)” and “Nobody (feat. Joeboy and Mr. Eazi).” Also in 2020 he collaborated with singer, songwriter, and entertainer Teni on the four-track project The Quarantine Playlist.
