Biography
Dominik Eulberg stands out as a remarkably productive and skilled creator of experimental techno who also performs as a DJ and originates from Germany. His recordings typically feature complex layering and meticulous detail, incorporating sudden changes in direction alongside vivid, emotionally charged melodic elements. A deep commitment to both environmental preservation and sonic exploration defines his path, including a stint as a park ranger, while his song names and visual designs consistently draw from the natural world, especially avian species along with various flora.
As a central figure on Cologne’s respected Traum Schallplatten imprint, he has issued multiple albums and singles via that outlet, among them the 2004 release Flora & Fauna, while also appearing on other platforms such as Cocoon with the 2007 album Bionik and !K7 with the 2019 album Mannigfaltig.
His entry onto the scene occurred in late 2003 through the single “Der Hecht Im Karpfenteich,” put out by Traum Schallplatten. That same label followed with his first album-length statement, Flora & Fauna, the next year, after which additional singles surfaced on Traum as well as Raum Musik, Trapez, and Ware. Under the alias Rocco Branco he simultaneously began issuing singles on Platzhirsch Schallplatten. In 2005 the double-mix CD Kreucht & Fleucht appeared on Mischwald and earned widespread critical praise. His second album, Heimische Gefilde, arrived in 2007 and gathered earlier single tracks together with short spoken passages styled after nature documentaries. Later that same year he delivered another full-length project, Bionik, via Sven Väth’s Cocoon Recordings.
After further 12-inch releases, his fourth album Diorama came out on Traum in 2011. He maintained a steady flow of singles across Traum, Cocoon, and Herzblut, some representing his most expansive work up to that point, such as the 2013 track “Opel Tantra.” For the 2014 split-mix CD SonneMondSterne.X8 on Kontor Records he handled the first disc alongside Animal Trainer. The co-production A Little Further with Extrawelt also surfaced that year. After solo EPs including Spülsaum and Falkenauge, the 2017 collaborative 12-inch Dream Machine with Essáy was issued, coinciding with the launch of his own Apus Apus label through the single Bienenfresser & Blauracke. Two further singles emerged on Apus Apus in 2018, and his fifth album, Mannigfaltig, reached audiences through !K7 in 2019.
