Biography
Born to Brazilian singer and songwriter Carlinhos Vergueiro along with historian Laura de Mello e Souza, Dora Vergueiro developed an early passion for traditional music. She first gained notice by contributing backing vocals to established songs before issuing her debut album, Leve, in 1996, which drew on the talents of local figures including Chico Buarque and Celso Fonseca.
