Biography
Dream Warriors came together in Toronto when the sharp and perceptive rappers King Lou and Capital Q joined forces, delivering the standout alternative rap album And Now, the Legacy Begins in 1991. Their partnership began in 1989, at which point they launched Beat Factory Productions together with Rupert Gayle and secured a contract with 4th & Broadway. The single “Wash Your Face in My Sink” arrived ahead of the album, while the track “My Definition of a Boombastic Jazz Style” quickly stood out as an early landmark of the jazz-rap style. Both singles reached Britain’s Top 20; at home the album earned gold certification and a Juno award. The optimistic title soon seemed misplaced, however, as the duo waited four years before issuing Subliminal Simulation. That release attracted scant attention, above all in America, and the group’s last album, The Master Plan, never reached American stores.
