Eben, an American pop artist recognized for his bright-toned electronic pop filled with yearning, first gained attention during the 2012 edition of American Idol. There, at the age of 15, he achieved the distinction of being the youngest male to advance to the Top 12. Following that, he spent five years participating in several boy bands that achieved moderate success, before embarking on a solo path in 2018 via the release of the Finally EP. In the subsequent three years, he maintained a high output of new material, securing streaming successes through tracks such as "That's Alright" and "Plastic Angels." His fourth EP, titled Dandelions, came out in 2021.

Born in the vicinity of Tampa, Florida, and brought up in Cincinnati, Ohio, Eben Franckewitz tried out successfully for the eleventh season of American Idol in 2012. He performed alongside singers who were generally older and progressed to the Top 12 prior to elimination. He moved to Orlando in 2014 to advance his musical pursuits, becoming a member of the boy band FarYoung, which had been assembled by Tim Coons, a producer previously associated with the Backstreet Boys. In 2016, Franckewitz teamed up again with Jackson Owens, another former FarYoung participant, in the boy band ABT LST NT, whose name is pronounced "About Last Night."

Franckewitz settled in Los Angeles by 2018 and initiated his solo work under the name Eben. Starting with the Finally EP, followed by singles including the pulsing electronic "Lambo" and the half-rapped "Past Hundred Days," his sound evolved toward a somewhat darker and more mature character. After issuing his second EP, Past Hundred Days, he served as an opener for the sold-out 8 Letters tour by the pop group Why Don't We and achieved a streaming hit in 2019 with "Plastic Angels."

In June 2020, Eben put out the Honeydew EP, which featured the popular streaming track "The Kids Are Alright." His steady productivity persisted the following year through the release of yet another EP, Dandelions.
