Travis Greene emerges as a singer and songwriter whose raw, expressive approach merges multiple genres inside contemporary Christian and gospel music. After surfacing in 2007, he earned broad recognition when The Hill topped the Billboard gospel chart in 2015. Several Grammy-nominated tracks sprang from that project, among them “Intentional” and “Made a Way,” the latter remaining at number one on the Hot Gospel Songs chart for 13 weeks. Greene secured seven Stellar Gospel Awards and gained a further Grammy nomination for “See the Light” from 2017’s Crossover: Live from Music City. A fifth Grammy nomination followed for “Won’t Let Go” from 2019’s Broken Record, preceding the 2021 arrival of Oil + Water. Two joint releases with Forward City, Tent Revival and Strike the Ground, appeared in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Born in Delaware in 1984, Travis Montorius Greene first channeled personal expression through music as a child after his father’s death. He encountered his own mortality early when pronounced dead following a fall from the fourth floor of a building in Germany. Alongside his musical development, Greene served as a youth pastor and worship director. His debut album, The More, surfaced in 2007 on his own Greenelight label. Greater progress came with the Pendulum-issued Stretching Out in 2010; two of its singles, “Prove My Love” and “Still Here,” registered on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart.

Both “Intentional” and “Made a Way” from his third album and RCA Inspiration debut, 2015’s The Hill, reached number one. The Hill itself ascended to the top of the gospel albums chart and delivered seven wins at the 2017 Stellar Gospel Music Awards. Building on those honors, he issued 2017’s Crossover: Live from Music City, another gospel number one that climbed to number 61 on the Billboard 200, his strongest placement to that point. The album also earned a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song for “See the Light.” Another live set, Setlist, Vol. 1, arrived in mid-2019 and entered the gospel Top 20.

Still aligned with RCA Inspiration, Greene released his fourth studio album, Broken Record, before the close of 2019. The track “Won’t Let Go” from that album earned him another Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance. In August 2021 he delivered the full-length Oil + Water, which included guest appearances by Anthony Hamilton, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Kierra Sheard, and others. Teaming with Columbia, South Carolina’s Forward City Church, he issued the joyous, high-energy collaboration Tent Revival in 2022. The partnership continued the following year with Strike the Ground, which featured guest spots from Tony Fresh, Jayci Lyn, D’Nar, and Titus Tucker.
