Jekalyn Carr built a multifaceted career as a gospel singer, songwriter, author, actress, and motivational speaker. Emerging during the mid-2010s, she scored her breakthrough at age 15 through the 2012 single “Greater Is Coming,” then issued a succession of progressively stronger full-length projects such as The Life Project in 2016 and the Grammy-nominated One Nation Under God in 2018. During this period the West Memphis-based artist also ventured into screen roles and released an inspirational book. Following the release of her Stellar Award-winning concert recording Changing Your Story, she resumed studio work and delivered the 2023 album Jekalyn.

Carr entered the scene in 2010 with the EP God Has a Promise Over Your Life. Two years later the single “Greater Is Coming” became both a radio success and the title song of her first studio album, issued in 2013; that project reached the Billboard 200 and opened at number three on the Top Gospel Albums chart, securing a Stellar Award. Her follow-up, It’s Gonna Happen, arrived in 2014 and peaked at number nine on the Gospel Albums tally. The Life Project, released in 2016, marked her first chart-topping gospel effort, introduced the hit “You’re Bigger,” and coincided with her appearance on an episode of the OWN series Greenleaf. That same year she issued the single “You Will Win,” which later inspired a 2018 motivational book of the same name. Also in 2018 she released One Nation Under God, another gospel number one that earned two Grammy nominations, and made her feature-film debut in the family drama Never Heard.

The 2019 standalone track “I See Miracles” previewed the direction of her next project, the live album Changing Your Story. That concert recording earned a Grammy nomination and collected two Stellar Awards while Carr simultaneously took a starring role in the film Praise This and grew her personal beauty-product line. After a four-year interval she returned to the studio with the intimate and encouraging set Jekalyn.
