Biography
Known for merging smooth classic soul vocals with modern production techniques and composition approaches, gospel and worship performer Todd Dulaney first gained notice after providing backing vocals for Smokie Norful and additional artists. His initial full-length release, Pulling Me Through, came out in 2013. Both A Worshipper's Heart in 2016 and Your Great Name in 2018 later reached the summit of the Billboard gospel albums chart. Scripture supplied the primary thematic foundation for his fifth album, Anthems & Glory.
Dulaney grew up in Maywood, Illinois, where he began singing early and initially pursued baseball, eventually suiting up for Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel, Illinois. The New York Mets selected him in the 2002 MLB draft, after which he logged five non-consecutive seasons in the minor leagues while maintaining active involvement in ministry and vocal work. He accepted an offer to tour as a backup singer with Grammy-winning gospel artist Smokie Norful and accumulated further stage credits alongside Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin, and Michelle Williams.
Dulaney put out his first solo project, Pulling Me Through, in 2011; following its 2013 label release through Gold Street Gospel Entertainment, the set entered the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. That exposure secured a contract with Entertainment One, which issued his gospel-charting rendition of “The Anthem”—previously familiar to praise and worship audiences via Australia’s the Planetshakers—in 2015. The track formed part of his second album, A Worshipper’s Heart, issued in April 2016, which climbed to number one on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. His third album, Your Great Name, arrived in 2018 and secured his second gospel albums chart-topping position.
Recorded live in Cape Town, South Africa, the 2019 release To Africa with Love showcased guest appearances by Nicole Harris, Illia Jackson, and South African gospel singer Lebohang Kgapola, ultimately peaking at number two on the gospel albums chart. Anthems & Glory, again issued by eOne in 2021, continued the pattern of drawing its lyrics directly from scripture.
