Biography
Dante Bowe stands among the leading and most fervent figures shaping modern Christian and gospel sounds. Raised in North Carolina and now based in Dallas, the minister’s grandson and practicing worship leader issued his earliest solo material in 2017, rapidly elevating his visibility via ties to both Bethel Music and Maverick City Music. His 2021 release Circles reached number seven on the Gospel chart and included the GMA Dove Award-winning track “Joyful,” while he also appeared on the Grammy-winning Old Church Basement, a joint project from Maverick City and Elevation Worship. Subsequent singles such as “The Healing,” which featured Blanca, and the Grammy-nominated “God Really Loves Us,” recorded with Crowder and MCM, continued to climb the Christian and Gospel tallies; later that year Bowe established TRUE Music as the home for his 2023 self-titled album, which blended contemporary African and Caribbean influences, and in 2024 he joined R&B vocalist Fridayy for the single “Grateful.”
Rockingham, North Carolina, is where Dante Bowe first absorbed a blend of sacred and secular recordings. Although steeped in the Christian tradition, he began attending services independently at sixteen, ultimately leaving high school to pursue ministry full-time—though he later completed his diploma—and spent several years directing the worship collective Ultimate Call. His debut album, Son of a Father, drew attention in 2017 through the single “Potter and Friend,” a duet with Jesse Cline. Within two years he had aligned with Bethel Music, guiding or sharing leadership on three selections from the group’s 2020 album Revival’s in the Air, which peaked at number two on Billboard’s Christian Albums chart. That same year he co-wrote four tracks for Maverick City, Vol. 3, Pt. 1, among them “Promises,” earning his initial GMA Dove Award nomination.
Following several standalone singles into 2021, Bowe issued Circles, which landed at number seven on the Gospel chart and yielded “Joyous,” a number-three Gospel single later honored with a Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year. Shortly afterward, Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music unveiled Old Church Basement; Bowe’s contributions as one of the worship leaders helped the set top both the Gospel and Christian charts while reaching number thirty on the Billboard 200. At the 64th Annual Grammy Awards the album captured Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, and Bowe received five further nominations across Christian and Gospel categories. He mounted two headlining tours in 2022 and that year partnered with Blanca on “The Healing,” which reached number nine on the Christian chart, as well as with Crowder and Maverick City Music on “God Really Loves Us,” a Gospel chart-topper that brought another Grammy nomination. Early in 2023 Bowe introduced his TRUE Music imprint via the singles “Hide Me” and “Demons,” both included on his self-titled third album released that July, before reuniting with Fridayy for the 2024 collaborative single “Grateful.”
