Maverick City Music functions simultaneously as a record label and a multifaceted collective devoted to contemporary worship music. Formed to connect CCM audiences with modern gospel expressions, the Atlanta-based outfit issued two EPs during 2019 before unveiling its debut full-length project, the two-part Maverick City, Vol. 3, in 2020. A Spanish-language full-length titled Como en el Cielo followed in 2021, succeeded by the chart-topping joint effort Old Church Basement alongside Elevation Worship. The 2023 release The Maverick Way Complete registered strongly on the charts, while additional team-ups have included Tribl, Upperroom, Kirk Franklin, and Song House—the last of which yielded the 2024 MAVHOUSE EP.

Co-founded in 2018 by Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay, the collective earned two Dove Award nominations for Maverick City, Vol. 3, whose standout tracks included the hit singles “Promises” and “Man of Your Word.” Later that same year the collaborative EP Move Your Heart appeared alongside Upperoom. In 2021 the first Spanish-language album Como en el Cielo surfaced, joined by the further Elevation Worship partnership Old Church Basement, which ascended to number one on the Top Christian Albums chart. Two live projects reached listeners that year—Jubilee: Juneteenth Edition and Tribl I, the latter a joint recording with fellow Georgia worship collective Tribl. November 2021 brought the holiday collection A Very Maverick Christmas, which peaked at number nine on the Top Christian Albums tally. The following year the live collaboration Kingdom: Book One with gospel superstar Kirk Franklin was captured during the group’s successful tour. A gradual unveiling of the next major undertaking commenced in 2023 with the Maverick Way EP, which expanded into the nearly three-hour The Maverick Way Complete. The expansive set delivered signature uplifting worship anthems such as “Firm Foundation (He Won’t)” featuring Cody Carnes and “Worthy of My Song” featuring Phil Wickham, while also producing the Top Ten Hot Gospel Songs single “In the Room.” October 2024 saw the arrival of the MAVHOUSE EP with Nashville collective Song House, followed a month later by the standalone single “Constant” featuring Chandler Moore.
