Biography
Sean Curran, a songwriter, worship leader, and singer whose warm, high-toned voice stands out from the choir, first gained notice as a founding member of the Florida Christian rock group Bellarive. The band placed two albums on the Billboard Christian albums chart during the 2010s, after which Curran became a featured vocalist with Passion in 2017. His solo career began the following year with the single “Live Again.”
He started playing guitar at age 13 and devoted himself to the instrument through middle and high school. Around the same period he accepted an invitation to join his church’s student worship team, an opportunity he pursued with equal commitment. While studying music and business in college, he also served as worship pastor at a church in Orlando.
Curran assembled Bellarive alongside Melissa Mage on vocals and percussion, Mike Mage on guitar and vocals, Zach Glotffelty on lead guitar, Josh Luker on bass, and Kenny Werner on drums. The group issued its debut EP, The Being Human Project...Start Listening, in 2009, which led to a contract with Sparrow Records and the release of the full-length The Heartbeat in 2012. That album reached number 21 on Billboard’s Christian Albums chart and number 17 on the Heatseekers chart. Its 2014 follow-up, Before There Was, improved on those positions, climbing to number 11 and number 8, respectively.
Bellarive disbanded in 2017, the year Curran first appeared with the Atlanta-based worship collective Passion. He was featured on the song “Worthy of Your Name,” which entered the Billboard Hot Christian Songs Top 30 that year. After contributing to Vertical Worship’s “Real Thing” in 2018, he returned to the Passion roster in early 2019 with “Welcome to the Healer,” which peaked at number 42, and “Bigger Than I Thought,” which reached number 44. In mid-2019 Six Steps Records/Capitol Christian Music Group issued his first solo single, “Live Again.”
