We the Kingdom unites several generations of one family in a contemporary Christian music collective that encompasses producers, songwriters, and supporting musicians. The members had already contributed to recordings by Chris Tomlin, Needtobreathe, and Rend Collective when they issued their first EP, Live at the Wheelhouse, in 2019. That project illustrated the collective’s mix of worship, country, pop, and rock. Wider notice followed with the Grammy-nominated full-length Holy Water in 2020. Momentum continued through a 2021 holiday EP and then the self-titled second album the next year.

Formed in Georgia and operating from Nashville, the founding members were Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, Needtobreathe), Martin Cash (Bethel Music, Passion), Scott Cash (Chris Tomlin, We Are Messengers), Franni Rae Cash (Amy Grant, Rend Collective), and Andrew Bergthold (Chris Tomlin, for KING & COUNTRY). After signing with Sparrow Records, the group released the single “Holy Water” in mid-2019; it later reached number two on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart. Around the same time, We the Kingdom toured in support of We Are Messengers.

Their debut EP, Live at the Wheelhouse, arrived in October 2019 and entered the top three of Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart. The Chris Tomlin collaboration “Christmas Day” reached the Christian Top 20 that December. A second EP, Live Acoustic Sessions, followed in March 2020. Later that year the band issued its first full-length album, Holy Water, which included the Christian Top 20 single “God So Loved.” The record marked a breakthrough, debuting at number four on the Top Christian Albums Chart, earning both commercial and critical praise, and securing a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. The 2021 holiday EP A Family Christmas, largely made up of original material, kept the group high on the Christian chart. Their self-titled sophomore LP appeared in September 2022, continuing the collective’s fusion of contrasting styles and atmospheres.
