Brandon Lake functions as a worship leader and songwriter affiliated with the Bethel Music collective, where his contributions have earned a Dove Award alongside Grammy nominations. Recognition has come his way through joint projects involving other Bethel-associated artists such as Matt Redman, Elevation Worship, Passion, and Housefires, together with solo releases that registered on Billboard charts, among them House of Miracles in 2021, Help! in 2022, and Coat of Many Colors in 2023.

Serving as worship pastor at Seacoast Church in South Carolina, Lake issued his first single, "Run to You," at the start of 2016, and it was featured on his initial full-length release, Closer. The track "Pour Me Out" followed in 2018, after which he aligned with Bethel Music in 2019 and delivered the emotive "This Is a Move," a composition developed with gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard, who holds Grammy wins, resulting in the Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year honor at the 2019 Dove Awards. Another trio of singles surfaced in 2020: the bluesy "I Need a Ghost," the worship ballad "Just Like Heaven," and the rousing "House of Miracles."

The year 2021 opened with House of Miracles (Live), after which Lake presented two distinct takes on "Too Good to Not Believe," the live edition proving a hit while the duet with Cody Carnes performed respectably; he also joined Chris Tomlin for "I See You." Subsequent to appearing on Brooke Ligertwood's "Honey in the Rock," he unveiled his third album in May 2022, the mental health-themed concept album Help!, which entered Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart at number 18.

Early 2023 brought the Billboard-charting successes "Praise You Anywhere" and "Count 'Em," both of which were later featured on the full-length Coat of Many Colors issued that October. The project entered the Billboard 200 and ultimately reached number one on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart. As Lake's debut under Provident Label Group, the album integrated elements of R&B, classic rock, country, and pop into his melodic worship songs. A non-album single, "That's Who I Praise," emerged in 2024 and climbed to number two on the Hot Christian Songs chart.
