Emerging from California, Jesus Culture functions as a global Christian revivalist ministry focused on youth outreach, harnessing music to convey its message. Youth worship leader and pastor Kim Walker-Smith launched the ministry in 2005. Operating initially through its in-house imprint Jesus Culture Music, the Jesus Culture Band launched a series of nearly annual live praise & worship albums with the 2006 release Everything. Highlighting both solo showcases by Walker-Smith, Chris Quilala, Kristene DiMarco, Bryan & Katie Torwalt, Chris McClarney, Justin Jarvis, and Derek Johnson and full ensemble performances, the collective established itself as one of contemporary Christian music’s foremost acts, surpassing one million albums sold worldwide.

In 2015 the group delivered its first compilation, This Is Jesus Culture, assembled from prior recordings and marking the start of a new deal with Sparrow Records, the faith-oriented subsidiary of EMI Records. Let It Echo, the collective’s next project in 2016, entered the Christian/Gospel charts at number one. Recorded at the Sacramento home church, Love Has a Name arrived in 2017. Into the following decade Jesus Culture sustained its outreach through a steady stream of EPs, concert albums, and compilations, among them 2024’s Sounds from the House, Vol. 1.
