Biography
Sarah Reeves from Nashville crafts emotional anthems that merge expansive pop arrangements with personal, introspective songwriting. Her breakthrough arrived in the late 2000s through the faith-focused EP Sweet Sweet Sound, which climbed to the Top 20 on Billboard's Christian Albums Chart and opened the door to her first full-length, Broken Things, in 2011. Further independent projects followed until she secured a deal with Curb, yielding 2018's Easy Never Needed You, an album of bright, dance-driven pop. She broadened that electronic direction through work with producers such as Gattüso, Laidback Luke, and Armin Van Buuren, releasing Life Love & Madness in 2020 and Best Days in 2023, the latter anchored by the empowering single "Get Back Your Fight."
Born in Athens, Alabama, Reeves was raised in a music-centered home; her father, John Mark "Hershey" Reeves, had worked as a musician, songwriter, engineer, and producer since the late '70s, and her younger sister, Mary Reeves, belongs to Only in Stories. She found her passion for music as a teenager, performing in her church worship band while sharpening her craft as a singer, songwriter, and keyboardist. As her confidence onstage grew, she began appearing as a solo artist, and after opening for the alternative Christian group Plumb, lead singer Tiffany Lee (aka Tiffany Arbuckle) was struck by the set. Lee then connected Reeves with staff at Sparrow Records, leading to a 2008 recording contract with the prominent Christian label. The seven-song EP Sweet Sweet Sound appeared in 2009, followed by the three-song God of the Impossible EP in 2010.
Reeves parted ways with Sparrow in 2011 and issued her debut independent full-length, Broken Things. The Christmas EP, containing new versions of five holiday favorites, arrived in 2013, and Acoustic Worship Covers, Vol. 1 followed in 2014. Although she had released cover material, Reeves kept writing originals that were later recorded by artists including Jesus Culture and Natalie Grant.
She later signed with Word Records and launched her tenure with the early-2018 single "Feel the Waters," preceding the arrival of Easy Never Needed You later that year. Her shift toward dance music deepened via collaborations with RUSLAN, Justice Skolnik, Gattüso, and Laidback Luke.
The next album cycle began in 2019 with the single "Anxious," which appeared on 2020's Life Love & Madness, a set of buoyant dance-pop anthems. More the Merrier, her first holiday collection, surfaced the following year together with the non-album single "Tell Me Why" featuring Armin van Buuren. The uplifting "Get Back Your Fight" arrived in March 2023 and spread widely online ahead of Best Days. That album presented her most assertive, pop-centric production to date, examining themes that range from heartbreak and jealousy to romance and feel-good dance tracks.
