Britt Nicole first emerged as a singer and songwriter specializing in inspirational dance-pop when her debut album Say It arrived in 2007, then broadened her reach beyond the contemporary Christian audience with the 2009 full-length The Lost Get Found. Her third studio set, the Grammy-nominated Gold, peaked at number 41 on the Billboard 200 in 2012. The self-titled Britt Nicole brought her back to both the Billboard 200 and the Christian songs chart in 2016, and she resurfaced with the single “I’ll Fight for You” in late 2021.

North Carolina native Brittany Nicole Waddell began performing in her grandfather’s church at age three, later mastering piano and guitar while composing her own material during adolescence. Although Belmont University awarded her a music-program scholarship, she declined it to focus on securing a recording deal.

That opportunity materialized in 2006 with a Sparrow Records contract, leading to the release of Say It the following year. Powered by the Top Ten Christian single “You,” the project reached number 40 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums tally. Her sophomore album The Lost Get Found continued her ascent on the Christian charts in 2009 while also registering on the Billboard 200, followed in 2010 by the Acoustic EP of stripped-down renditions.

Gold, Britt Nicole’s 2012 studio album, climbed to number 41 on the Billboard 200, and its title track introduced her to both the Hot 100 and the Pop Songs chart. Capitol Records signed her later that year and reissued Gold in 2013; the project earned a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. “The Sun Is Rising” appeared on the soundtrack of the Cameron Diaz film The Other Woman in 2014. She reentered the Hot Christian Songs chart with “Through Your Eyes” and “Be the Change,” both featured on her first Capitol collection of new songs, simply titled Britt Nicole, which debuted at number 100 on the Billboard 200 in 2016.

After giving birth to her and her husband’s third child in 2018, Nicole resumed writing and independently issued “I’ll Fight for You” in late 2021.
