Hailing from Wisconsin, Jason Upton pursues his work as a singer, songwriter, and recording artist while carrying a pastoral outlook, fusing contemporary worship music with folk influences throughout a wide-ranging catalog built over several decades. He completed his Master of Divinity in 2000 and promptly issued his earliest recordings, among them the debut album Key of David, before his audience expanded notably during the 2010s. The 2020 album God Finds Us marked the twentieth anniversary of that first release.

Upton entered the world on December 15, 1973, in Minneapolis and grew up inside a Christian household. Ministry work began for him at age fifteen, when he started traveling across the United States to preach. His debut, Key of David, came out in 2000 under the auspices of Key of David Ministries. The following year brought the live recording Faith. Two studio albums, Jacob’s Dreams and Dying Star, appeared in 2002 and were succeeded by Remember in 2003. Between Earth and Sky earned placement on CBN’s Best Christian Contemporary Albums list in 2007, the same year he delivered his tenth album, Beautiful People, before issuing 1200 Ft. Below Sea Level in 2008. Collaboration with the Goodland Band produced 2009’s On the Rim of the Visible World and continued on 2010’s Family Music. Three live projects followed: Live from Dublin: Songs, Stories and a Train in 2010, Glimpse in 2012, and Sunday Morning, Live in Winston Salem in 2013.

In 2015 Upton introduced the A Table Full of Strangers project with its first volume, then returned to the series for A Table Full of Strangers, Vol. 2 in 2018. God Finds Us arrived two years later.
