Edalam

Hailing from Guadeloupe, French reggae vocalist Edalam first drew widespread notice when his opening release, the 2009 Top 20 single “Hélicopta,” climbed the national charts. Born Alix Zelateur on Marie-Galante in 1984, he relocated to mainland France four years after the turn of the millennium. His professional studio bow arrived at the close of 2007 via that same track, “Hélicopta,” which appeared on Airplay Records, a Universal Music imprint, and carried co-billing for DJ Lauralee. Crafted by producers Olivier Pertin and Christophe Caron, the song only achieved its strongest traction two years later, lodging inside the French Top 20. In tandem with that success, Edalam issued the follow-up “Gwo Tété” while readying his first full-length project, D’konpwésé.
