Biography
Elizaveta Igorevna Khripounova, who identifies her style as "opera pop," entered the world in New York before spending her formative years in Russia and later completing an honors degree at the University of Southern California. Working as a pianist, singer/songwriter, and opera singer, she channeled her classical instruction in both piano and voice into the creation of her first EPs, Breakfast with Chopin and Like Water. Her attachment to the classical sphere, paired with deep admiration for Nina Simone, Adele, and Queen, prompted the rising Elizaveta to secure a contract with Universal Republic Records, which produced a self-titled EP in 2011 and the Greg Wells-produced full-length debut Beatrix Runs in 2012.
