Biography
Emerging from Brooklyn, the dark electro-rock project ERAAS took shape after the post-rock band Apse dissolved in late 2010. Apse founder Robert Toher, intent on achieving more through reduction, rejoined forces with childhood friend and former bandmate Austin Stawiarz. The two developed material that kept Apse’s shadowy mood intact while incorporating driving electronic elements, completing their self-titled debut album in 2011. Following a free online release of ERAAS, the pair secured a deal with Felte Records, which issued the album officially in October 2012. Just over a year later Toher and Stawiarz delivered Initiation, a collection that leaned further into electronics and adopted a darker overall tone.
