Eric Saade, the Swedish pop singer born on October 29, 1990, in Kattarp, Helsingborg, Sweden, first captured public attention through Disney Channel appearances and a strong showing at the Melodifestivalen before launching his breakthrough album Masquerade in 2010. He gained initial visibility in 2008 by supplying the Swedish voice-over for the film Camp Rock and followed that in 2009 by hosting the program My Camp Rock. During the same period he belonged to the teen pop group What's Up. After those Disney Channel successes, Saade exited the group to pursue a solo path and secured a contract with Roxy Recordings. His first release on the label, the 2009 single "Sleepless," achieved only modest results, yet the subsequent track "Manboy" became a major success. Penned by Fredrik Kempe and Peter Boström, "Manboy" ascended to the top of the Swedish singles chart and earned Saade third place in the Melodifestivalen. He then delivered his debut full-length project, Masquerade, which included the earlier singles "Sleepless" and "Manboy" plus the Kempe-penned "Break of Dawn" and climbed to number two on the Swedish albums chart.
